We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Quality department for a Supplier Quality Engineer at our Somerset, WI location. Somerset is a quick, easy drive from the Twin Cities - opposite traffic, only 15 minutes from Stillwater.

This role works with the quality team and suppliers to ensure material specifications are in place and in alignment with internal / external stakeholders for all purchased and outsourced materials while proactively utilizing quality tools.

Key Responsibilities include:

Investigating, analyzing and implementing corrective actions for problems in quality, relative to purchased materials utilizing quality tools, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Process Control Plans, Corrective and Preventative Actions, Process Capability, and Design of Experiments.
Acting as key liaison / support between the customer, team and suppliers offering guidance on quality systems and practices where needed.
Reviewing suppliers to ensure all requirements for specific supplier levels are met prior to authorization.
Conducting / leading supplier evaluations / audits to aid in determining suppliers.
Improving quality performance of suppliers by conducting workshops at supplier locations or providing technical assistance / support as required.
Achieving optimum cost while ensuring high level of quality & service.

Essential Qualifications include:

A Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and a minimum of two years of experience; OR a two-year post high school diploma/certificate and six years of experience
Understanding of Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA) and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA)
Working knowledge and understanding of statistical techniques
Ability to analyze / troubleshoot complex problems
Demonstrated effective team, interpersonal and communication skills, including written communication
Ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects
Attention to detail
Experience developing and managing supplier relationships
Significant experience using Microsoft office software products

Desirable Qualifications include:

Experience within the medical device industry
Electrical and / or metallurgy manufacturing processes knowledge
Completion of Lead Auditor Course, CQA, CQE, CBA, or equivalent certification
Previous experience with lean manufacturing concepts

Physical Requirements:

Typically sits, grasps items and performs keyboarding for frequent operation of a computer
Stand, walk, bend, reach or otherwise move about occasionally
Lift, move or otherwise transfer items up to 30 lbs. occasionally
Occasional exposure to typical machine shop physical hazards
Up to 20% travel by air and / or car
