We re hiring for a Grain Accountant to join our team in Loyal, WI (about an hour east of Eau Claire). In this role you will be responsible for processing and recording grain purchase and sale transactions, as well as market analysis, supplier relationship management, and continuous process improvement. Having a solid understanding of the agricultural industry, grain markets, as well as the understanding of marketing risk is essential to this position. This role requires a knowledge of accounting procedures, responsible for accurately inputting transactions, generating reports, and troubleshooting to resolve issues. The Grain Accountant position is an integral part of the business and needs to portray the professional image of Northside Elevator and is responsible for compliance with all company policies, local, state, and federal policies, laws, and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all grain transactions, which includes, but is not limited to, inbound and outbound grain and use of grain within the feed mill
  • Assist in performing the company s inventory cycle count process and procedure
  • Keep records and produce reports as required for the annual audit
  • Oversee the daily balancing of the daily position report
  • Complete daily reconciliation of grain settlements and tickets
  • Process various accounting transactions, prepare payments and complete daily reports
  • Perform month end process and procedures timely and accurately
  • Work closely with the CFO in preparing the necessary information for the monthly financials
  • Understand current and future grain pricing and market outlooks
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures relating to grain processes
  • Ability to quickly adapt to the various software used
  • Provide analytical insight relating to the grain business functions
  • Develop and recommend improvements on the grain processes to promote accuracy, efficiency, and cost savings

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting
  • Agriculture, commodity, and mark-to-market accounting experience
  • High level attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of the organization, written and verbally
  • Demonstrate initiative, accountability, flexibility, good organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite
  • Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by displaying a high level of confidentiality
