This includes: Camp Randall Stadium, Fieldhouse, McClain Athletic Facility, Student-Athlete Performance Center, Kellner Hall, Indoor Practice Facility, and the Athletics Operations building. Additionally, this position will assist and work with, as needed, building managers and staff of University Ridge, Golf Training Center, Goodman Diamond, McClimon track/soccer complex, Porter Boathouse, Nielsen Tennis Stadium, and all other Division buildings, remodeling and renovation projects. Assists the Associate Director of Facilities with Capital projects to ensure continuation of facility operations and use during any Camp Randall Complex renovations. Initiate and review plans for remodeling locker rooms, showers, offices, concession areas, press boxes, storage areas, etc. Works with other building managers and the custodial services manager, with coordinating daily operations and the planning and implementation of various facility projects. Supervise the building, repair, and set up of athletic training devices, and other athletic specific projects such as scoreboards, press boxes, athletic equipment (goals, goal posts, nets, track equipment, weight and training equipment, etc.). This position will also supervise skilled and semi-skilled maintenance staff including positions such as Building and Grounds Supervisor, Building Supervisor, Mailroom staff, FT's, FS's, and other building maintenance and support staff. This position assists with overseeing a building and maintenance budget of $1,200,000 and approximately 1,000,000 square feet of buildings and grounds. Responsibilities:Plans and oversees building and grounds operations to meet the needs of the university, its employees, and visitors. + 10% Implements and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for building and grounds operations and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement + 10% Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures + 30% Directs day-to-day operations of the unit to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, and unit goals and policy interpretation + 20% Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications + 5% Prepares periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies + 10% Monitors the unit budget and approves unit expenditures + 15% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees Institutional Statement on Diversity: Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison. Qualifications: 1. Principles of supervision and effective skills in supervising a staff of skilled and semi-skilled employees. 2. Capacity to plan, prioritize, schedule and supervise multiple jobs. 3. Knowledge of operations, maintenance, repair and installation of building mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, as well as preventative maintenance programming. 4. General understanding of methods, materials and equipment used in building construction and remodeling. 5. Knowledge of health and safety codes applicable to buildings and grounds. 6. Principles and practices of effective public relations, effective oral and written communication skills, and techniques for maintaining productive working relationships. 7. Administrative management skills, including budgeting and planning, cost analysis, purchasing, materials management, and resource allocation. 8.Federal, State and Municipal buildings and grounds regulations and codes. 9. State and University procurement rules and regulations. 10. Knowledge of NCAA, Big Ten, WCHA, and WIAA facilities and grounds rules and regulations. 11. Knowledge of records and record keeping systems. Work Type: Full Time: 100% It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Salary will be assigned within the appropriate range, commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. An excellent benefits package is also included.
