Description

This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), an international leader in energy and environmental research, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the world. We are looking for up to three highly qualified, scientifically trained, confident and motivated individuals to contribute to the success of the organization by performing one or more of the following functions:

• Evaluate and interpret geoscience and engineering data.
• Use oil and gas industry simulation and other software packages to assess and predict the performance of subsurface reservoirs.
• Evaluate field injection/production operations, detailed geologic evaluations, machine learning, and data analytics.
• Interface with a diverse team of scientists and engineers to assess uncertainties in oil and gas development and geologic CO2 storage.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations.
• Demonstrate excellent written, interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
• Some travel is required.

Required Competencies

Minimum Requirements

• B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering, science, or geoscience field.
• Experience in using oil and gas industry simulation and other software packages to determine the long-term performance of subsurface reservoirs and the fate of produced/injected fluids.
• Experience with technical writing, such as author or coauthor of published peer-reviewed article or technical paper.
• Applicants may be required to provide a writing sample.
• Cover letter and resume or curriculum vitae are required.
• Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in petroleum engineering or related engineering, science, or geoscience field.
• Two years of experience working in the oil and gas industry or in a research position related to the oil and gas industry.
• Prior research experience related to conventional and unconventional reservoirs, CO2 storage, or enhanced oil recovery.
• Experience in conducting reservoir engineering analysis, such as pressure transient analysis, material balance analysis, and decline curve analysis.
• Experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and/or big data analysis using geoscience and/or reservoir engineering data.
• Experience in designing field or laboratory experiments and/or interpreting results.
• Experience in geothermal evaluation and simulation.
• Experience in reservoir engineering research and development projects.

Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$55,000-$85,000 / year, dependent on relevant experience; Exempt; Benefited; Full-time

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with flexibility to accommodate work activities/work life balance. Travel may be required.
