Position Information:

Description

The Northern Plains UAS Test Site (NPUASTS) seeks aerospace and aviation specialists to ensure the safe execution of, and provide operational oversight of UAS flights performed under the Test Site. The UAS Operations Specialist position will provide service, support, and management to NPUASTS client operations and affiliated research programs.

Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
  • UAS Operations Support
    • Preparation for and insuring safe execution of aviation and UAS flights performed under NPUASTS.
    • Provide consulting and high-quality customer service to a wide variety of aerospace and UAS clients.
    • Manage compliance to NPUASTS procedures and operational and regulatory requirements.
    • Fulfill required crewmember positions during flight operations, including operating NPUASTS aircraft, if required.
  • Office Duties/Additional Responsibilities
    • Support technical writing on documents, such as Concept of Operations, Test Plans/Cards, periodic reports, and client proposals.
    • Stay up-to-date on FAA guidance on Unmanned Aircraft.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor degree, or Associate degree with 3 years of equivalent aviation work experience, or 5 years of equivalent aviation work experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check.
  • Export Control Compliance: This position requires compliance with the U.S. government export control laws and regulations. Applicants are required to be eligible for employment under U.S. export control laws and must meet the requirement of being a "U.S. Person" (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a)(3)). UND will not sponsor applicants for employment authorization for this position. Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting safe UAS flight operations.
  • Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) License.
  • Private or commercial pilot license.
  • Experience in technical writing.
  • Experience with Remote Control (RC) aircraft.
  • Experience building or configuring UAS.
  • Experience obtaining Part 107 Waivers.


Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$55,000 annual, full-time, exempt, benefited

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week.
