Center Point Energy is looking for a Senior Pipeline Operations Specialist to join our Team, located in Minneapolis, MN. You will have the ability to provide business and technical expertise to support the development and administration of the company's operation activities in compliance with pipeline safety regulations and company operations standards throughout CenterPoint Energy Gas Operations. Develop and implement processes and procedures and works with field personnel, engineers, technical specialists, regulatory agencies, operating regions, and departments to facilitate an ongoing understanding of, and ensure compliance with, regulatory initiatives and company policy across all Gas Operations. Develop, implement and monitor standardized processes and key regulatory control mechanisms to insure consistent and uniform compliance in all jurisdictions. To be successful in this role you will: Assist with the coordination of federal and state D.O.T. inspections and regional pre-audits, reporting and post-audit follow-up. Provide data and information for annual reports and incident reports, incident investigations and safety-related condition analyses and reporting. Provide leadership and expertise for Gas Operations in fashioning policies and procedures concerning operator qualification and public awareness. Interpret applicable federal and state regulations, agreements, policies and procedures and provide solutions for company compliance. Lead development of new policies, procedures and guidelines for Gas Operations. Communicates the information to company personnel at all levels within the company, including presentations to management teams. Develop, implement and monitor key regulatory control mechanisms to ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations, including Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration rules and regulations. Develop, implement, maintain, disseminate and test the Gas Emergency Operations Plan. Represents and coordinates Gas Operations for Electric EOP. Create and maintain open dialogues with departments, requests information and responds by providing suggestions, alternatives and assistance. Leverage relationships to identify opportunities for improvement and develops solutions to operational issues throughout Gas Operations. Interface with management to identify best practices and ensure consistent operational procedures throughout the organization. Assist with coordinating incident investigations and root cause analysis, determinations and recommendations. Serve on various internal committees, as well as external gas industry teams, providing company-level perspective to process improvements and problem resolution. Develop, implement and monitors the security plan for Gas Operations to meet Department of Homeland Security recommendations. Works in conjunction with Corporate Security and Pipeline Operations. Serve as subject matter expert to research and develop responses for technical questions from Gas Operations. Coordinate with Safety & Training, Environmental, including Subpart W of the greenhouse gas rule, Purchasing, Tool Committee and Fleet to optimize Gas Operations resources. Your background includes: Requires bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. In lieu of education will consider relevant job-related experience. Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in Pipeline operations with subject matter expertise in at least one of the following areas: regulatory, gas operations, procedure writing, engineering or process improvement. A bonus to be: Able to view and operate a personal computer monitor or laptop screen and sit for long periods of time. Able to operate office machines including telephone, photocopier, fax machine, calculator, scanner, etc. Able to operate a motor vehicle including ability to enter and exit the vehicle unassisted Able to exert up to ten (10) pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Able to work indoors in normal office environment and outdoors with occasional exposure to all weather conditions, hot, dirty and/or greasy equipment and noise when at field installation sites. Able to work regular daytime hours. Able to work occasional weekends and evenings as required. Able to travel outside of primary work location, in any weather conditions and occasionally overnight, to field locations, remote areas, conferences and/or meetings. Able to wear personal protection safety equipment, such as respirator, safety glasses, hard hat, gloves, and ear plugs occasionally as required by the work.
