The Music and Theatre Arts Departments in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of North Dakota seek a renewable, full-time Teaching Assistant Professor in Collaborative Piano. This is a 9-month, non-tenure track position, contingent upon the availability of funding.

The University of North Dakota Department of Theatre Arts offers a Bachelor of Arts degree with tracks in acting, technical theatre, and theatre generalist, and a BFA in Musical Theatre. Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will receive a contract that allocates 10% effort for instruction of Keyboard Skills, 10% effort for instruction of Applied Keyboard Lessons, 50% effort as collaborative pianist for the Concert Choir, Allegro Treble Choir, and musical theater program, and 20% effort as collaborative pianist with music faculty and guest artists.

All faculty are expected to contribute service within the department, college, university, and community and to participate in the department's recruitment and outreach initiatives. Service duties will account for 10% of effort. Required Competencies

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to teach, inspire, and mentor students
• Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and students
• Ability to work with and engage diverse students and colleagues within and outside the Department of Music
• Ability to adapt to current methods of teaching, including online delivery

Minimum Requirements

• DMA or PhD in Music completed by August 15, 2023; ABD considered

• Successful completion of criminal history records check.

• Collaborative piano or piano performance degree specialty
• Experience teaching class piano
• Experience teaching applied piano
• Experience collaborating with vocal soloists
• Experience collaborating with instrumental soloists
• Experience accompanying choirs
• Demonstrated experience of performing at a high level

Minimum Hiring Salary

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Contract Period/Start Date

Position is full-time, benefitted and exempt. Initial contract extends from August 16, 2023 to May 15, 2024. Summer teaching may be available but is neither guaranteed nor required.
