The mission of Cybertrol's Infrastructure team is to accelerate our core teams' delivery of value to customers by simplifying their lives and reducing cognitive load through an internal Platform as a Product. In this role, you will work within a cross-functional team to improve throughput of our value streams, the developer experience, and customer-facing deliverables. Key areas of focus include DevOps philosophies, cloud-native software design principles, and comprehensive application and infrastructure observability, among other things. As a senior engineer, you will be expected to provide value beyond being an individual contributor by providing technical direction, elevating more junior engineers through mentoring and coaching, and working on initiatives having company-wide impact. Up to 10% travel may be required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNTIONS

  • Comply with and significantly contributing to the advancement of internal standards
  • Design, develop, and operate Cybertrol's Industrial-Infrastructure-as-a-Service offering
  • Design, develop, and maintain compelling internal products to accelerate delivery, improve workflows, and eliminate toil within Cybertrol's product and integration teams
  • Learn, research, and recommend innovative ideas and technologies that support Cybertrol's development, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and security needs
  • Work towards bringing cloud-native techniques to the manufacturing edge
  • Create system documentation for both internal and external audiences
  • Mentor associate engineers
  • Participate in sales activities including customer visits and trade shows

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other IT-related field and 5+ years of professional experience or 8+ years of directly relevant professional experience

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant experience with industrial / manufacturing products, software, and architectures
  • Experience with cloud providers (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • IOT/IIOT experience
  • Progressive on-premises/edge software delivery experience
  • Familiarity and comfort filling multiple roles within Scrum
  • Professional-level certifications held with VMware, Cisco, Windows Server, cybersecurity, and industrial hardware/software

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Solid understanding of software programming, software development, software releases, database management, networking concepts, cybersecurity, and cloud computing
  • Willingness and ability to communicate directly with internal and external stakeholders having varied technical backgrounds
  • Technical leadership capability to guide, mentor, and coach team members working on complex products and projects
  • Strong understanding and experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, Rancher, Docker Swarm)
  • Strong understanding and experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Groovy, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Strong understanding and experience with Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure provisioning tooling (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Terraform, Packer)
  • Knowledge and experience using CI/CD tooling (e.g., Azure DevOps, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Codefresh, Flux)
  • Knowledge and experience with observability tooling (e.g., ElasticStack, Prometheus, Grafana)
  • Strong understanding and experience with Git
  • Relevant experience within an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Expert-level knowledge of and Associate or higher-level certifications held with VMware, Cisco, Windows Server, cybersecurity, and industrial hardware/software
  • Proven ability to and desire to utilize a wide array of tools, technologies, and sources of information to solve a variety of problems
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work toward task completion
  • Self-motivated with ability to meet deadlines independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to influence adoption of evolving frameworks, practices, and processes
  • Awareness of and mitigation strategies for technical debt
  • Ability to forge positive working relationships with a wide variety of people
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office desk/cubicle environment, extensive sitting, and computer use
  • Site Visits/Work (15%)
    • Industrial manufacturing facilities around production equipment and operations, management, engineering, and equipment supply personnel with these possible conditions:
      • Construction area site work around construction equipment and personnel
      • Hot, cold, and loud noises
      • Stairs, ladders, indoors and outdoors
  • Typical personal protective equipment: safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, and electrical safety PPE as well as any other PPE specified by the customer
  • Work may include working weekends, holidays, nightshift, and extended hours to meet deadlines and commissioning requirements
