Description

This position is located at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), an international leader in energy and environmental research, conducting projects for clients throughout the United States and the world.   • Evaluate and interpret geoscience and engineering data.
  • Use oil and gas industry simulation and other software packages to assess and predict the performance of subsurface reservoirs.
  • Assess uncertainties in oil and gas development and geologic CO2 storage.
  • Mentor/supervise junior staff.
  • Work constructively within a diverse team.
  • Develop and facilitate business opportunities with potential clients.
  • Lead and manage projects and tasks.
  • Lead or assist in the preparation of technical proposals, reports, and presentations.
  • Demonstrate excellent written, interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Some travel is required.

Minimum Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry or related research experience.
  • Experience using oil and gas industry simulation and other software packages to determine the long-term performance of subsurface reservoirs and the fate of produced/injected fluids.
  • Knowledge and experience in preparing proposals to potential clients.
  • Experience managing projects/tasks and reporting results to clients.
  • Cover letter and resume or curriculum vitae are required.
  • Applicants may be required to provide a writing sample.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in petroleum engineering or related engineering, science, or geoscience field.
  • Experience in coupling flow and geomechanics simulation.
  • Experience implementing programming languages such as Python, C++, R, or others.
  • Experience in applying machine learning approaches in subsurface analyses.
  • Experience conducting reservoir engineering analyses, such as pressure transient analysis, material balance analysis, and decline curve analysis.
  • Experience in one or more of the following:
    • Unconventional reservoir simulation, performance analysis, and methods of production.
    • Conventional and unconventional reservoir enhanced oil recovery (EOR), geologic CO2 storage, and reservoir-monitoring techniques.
    • Subsurface stratigraphy within the Williston Basin.
    • Designing or interpreting field or lab experiments for CO2 storage or hydrocarbon recovery.
    • Pressure-volume-temperature experimental design and data interpretation/analysis.
    • Thermal and geochemical simulation for gas injection and storage processes.
    • Well testing design and data interpretation.
  • Demonstrated technical writing ability, such as author or coauthor of published peer-reviewed articles or technical papers.


Minimum Hiring Salary/Position Classification

$120,000 / year; exempt; benefited; full-time

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with flexibility to accommodate work activities/work life balance. Travel may be required.
