Job Responsibilities:

Position Summary: This position serves as a Youth Advocate (functions as a case manager) who is responsible for maintaining positive outcomes and charting individual progress with the youth in the Community Service Restitution Coordination Program (coverage only). The person in this position assists in coordinating programming and community service opportunities at CSRC. The person in this position is responsible for working with staff to track activities that su pport enrollment, service delivery, operations, outcome data, and reporting for the program.

Essential Functions:
1. Model positive pro-social skills and behaviors for youth.
2. Provide active supervision and engagement with youth.
3. Communicate effectively with team members.
4. Meet regularly with youth in the programs' care to provide direct service case management and track all activity in the hard file, Synthesis and Secure Manage database.
5. Maintain consistent communication with Milwaukee County CYFS HSWs, parents/guardians, other service providers, and others to ensure high-quality level of service.
6. Participate in and prepare for site visits and other contract-related meetings as needed.
7. Assist in the preparation of drafts of all performance outcomes documents quarterly for submission to funders (submission schedules subject to change).
8. Collect and organize data from all youth and parent/guardian feedback surveys and report the results monthly.
9. Develop and send out letters and other correspondence to parents/guardians and other necessary parties.
10. Actively coordinate and participate in all aspects of the program, including all community outings for community service and restitution.
11. Help to ensure that programs achieve the outcome expectations of contracts.
12. Maintain accurate, up-to-date census information and report census data to funding sources once each week.
13. Complete all mid-point and discharge reports and restitution payments in a timely manner.
14. Enter new youth into Secure Manage as back-up to the Youth Mentor.
15. Enter new youth into Synthesis as back-up to the Youth Mentor.
16. Conduct home visits and complete intakes.
17. Ride on the vans for transportation to ensure a smooth, supervised process for youth.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Participate in WCS teams, as assigned.
2. Performs other related duties as required.

Job Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of child/youth development; patience and understanding of difficult life situations; the ability to interact with escalating youth and/or parents in a calm and professional manner; has demonstrated an ability to actively listen to youth and colleagues; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations; proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel; uses time efficiently and effectively; ability to multi-task; awareness of cultural, ethnic and disability issues. Highly organized and can work independently.

Minimal Qualifications:

Must have at least two (2) years previous experience working with adolescents and/or their families, and knowledge of positive youth development concepts and stages. Must have previous experience performing case management responsibilities, preferably a minimum of two (2) years. Some knowledge of Wisconsin Juvenile Code and Court proceedings is helpful. Associates Degree is required, and BA/BS in Social Work, criminal justice or social service-related field is preferred. Certification in social work is preferred. Must have insured automobile and valid driver's license. Meet all WCS requirements including criminal and caregiver background checks, references, and driving record. Individuals must be able to positively interact with and support the progress of youth who are involved in the justice system.
