Your Role: Tetra Tech is seeking an Environmental Field/Construction Specialist to perform contractor oversight of construction/demolition activities at a client site in Michigan. The Environmental Specialist will provide technical and administrative oversight of all environmental aspects of the project which will include, but is not limited to the following: Advise on applicable regulations, ordinances, and client policy/specification requirements related to the project. Prepare environmental documents for submittal to government agencies as required. Assist in the coordination of pre-work tasks with the contractor, Client personnel, or other associated entities. This may include review of a Project Manual and project-specific submittals by the contractor. Work closely with construction contractors, client corporate staff, client construction project team, and other key stakeholders. Attend and document meetings (i.e., take minutes) as necessary and/or directed by client. Monitor contractor work procedures specific to the environmental aspects of the project to document compliance with the specifications and regulations Ensure and document proper removal and management of waste and recycling material streams and provide third party clearance inspections with specific attention to client written standards and specifications. Monitoring of all soil excavation activity for soils designated for reuse. Provide sampling services in accordance with established procedures and standards as required. Prepare report summarizing the removal and management of waste streams including recyclables or materials not otherwise disposed, unless specifically excluded by client. Provide weekly written reports summarizing site environmental activities. Serve as the client's environmental compliance representative to monitor site activities and to ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and client procedures during all phases of this project by documenting via visual observations, field records and photos. Maintain broad knowledge and understanding of construction schedule and proactively coordinate planning for all required environmental activities with stakeholders Support client project teams and internal business development initiatives. We seek candidates who have potential for building consultant-client relationships. On-site construction schedule is still under development and subject to change. The anticipated project is estimated to begin in early summer 2023 with an 18-month timeline. Standard work will be Monday - Friday but some necessity of weekends, extended days is anticipated. Qualifications: Candidates must be able to work shift work; stand for long periods of time; have physical stamina to provide necessary oversight of a large construction sight, have good organizational and communication skills; must be self-confident and comfortable with conflict; and must be able to pass a nine (9) panel drug test. Experience and current certifications to various MIOSH construction standards is highly preferred. Knowledge and experience with environmental sampling protocols is a highly desired skill. Experience with subjects of contaminated soil excavations, storm water pollution prevention, spill prevention control and countermeasures, and hazardous/universal waste regulations is preferred.
