Job Details
R.D. Offutt Farms is looking to hire summer crop scouts at our Becker, Brooten, Park Rapids, Perham, Staples, Ripley, and Wadena farms. This is a great opportunity to learn more about agronomy and potatoes! At RDO we are very up-to date on the latest Agronomic practices and Precision Ag technologies. Working for us you would have the opportunity to learn from some very sharp agronomic minds and farm managers. The individual will receive an iPad and ATV to use for the summer. This is a great opportunity to spend your summer in the heart of Minnesota lakes country!
Job Duties Include
- Scouting potato fields, soil sampling, tissue sampling, hand digging potato samples, and other general agronomic activities.
- Be a self-starter; ability to work independently as well as with other personnel and management
- Represent self and company in a professional and positive manner
- Attend required company meetings and training and participate in constructive discussion
- Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner
Requirements
- A basic understanding of Agronomy and farm operations is preferred, but not required
- No potato experience is needed
- Ability to work 30-40 hours per week Monday-Friday
- Be able to lift at least 50 lbs. and walk through potato vines and over difficult terrain
- Candidate must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
