summary:

The Parts Specialist supports the parts counter both for internal customers (Service Technicians) and external customers.

essential functions:

  1. Greets customers and takes orders in person and over the phone
  2. Determines replacement part required, according to inspection of old part, customer request, or customer description of malfunction
  3. Completes sales by entering purchased items in to the sales/inventory system, obtaining payment, adding purchases to credit account, and issuing sales receipts
  4. Utilizes both catalog and on-line resources to secure necessary parts to meet customer needs
  5. Maintains parts inventory by verifying supplies and placing orders when order-points are reached
  6. Stocks items by unpacking and placing items into bins and on shelves
  7. Executes freight claims for damaged goods
  8. Receives returned items by inspecting them and then returning payments
  9. Assists with shipping and receiving, when needed

  3. Observe safety and security policies and procedures and use equipment and materials accordingly

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

knowledge, education and/or experience:

  1. Requires a high school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  2. Valid driver's license
  3. Previous parts or automotive industry experience preferred
  4. One to two years of counter experience preferred
  5. Forklift experience a plus
skills:

  1. Excellent communication skills
  2. Excellent phone skills
abilities :

  1. The ability to multi-task
working conditions:

  1. This job operates in a parts store/repair/installation shop environment.
  2. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
