Summary

CHS has an exciting opportunity in our Finance organization within a hybrid work setting. We are looking for a Senior Manager of Accounting for Country Operations to lead the month-end close process, including financial reporting and consolidation of Country Operations (CO) results. You will also be responsible for monitoring/executing internal controls, ensuring adherence to accounting policies/procedures and deadlines within the Country Operations business, and retaining, developing, and maintaining a high performing team. You will be a key finance leader with high visibility across CO and the greater CHS finance organization. An ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of US GAAP, associated IT systems (SAP, AGRIS, BPC) and knowledge of internal controls. Additionally, an ideal candidate will possess strong verbal and written communication skills with a continuous improvement mindset that can drive efficiencies, collaborate, and build cross-functional relationships. Furthermore, an ideal candidate must be highly motivated, agile, an eye for detail and have strong problem-solving abilities, being able to quickly prioritize work, identify issues and propose/implement solutions with minimal oversight.

Responsibilities

Month-end Close Activities: Month/Quarter/Year-end close activities which include but are not limited to:

  • Country Operations consolidation activity
  • Review and approval of various balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries and Blackline tasks
  • Oversee/review performance of regular accruals
  • Oversee/manage allocations
  • Perform cost center reviews
  • Oversee/monitor gathering information for SEC reporting disclosures purposes as it relates to Country Operations
  • Monitor/oversee AGRIS interface into SAP
  • Ensure all intercompany eliminations are performed timely and accurately

Supervisory:

  • Develop, motivate, retain talent to create a high performing team
  • Provide continuous feedback to team members throughout the year
  • Perform annual performance reviews
  • Establish and monitor staff's annual goals
  • Ensure staff are complying with all policies and procedures
  • Ensure staff have a focus on internal controls and maintaining high standards

Oversee Audit and Internal Control Activities:

  • Be a primary point of contact with external auditors to facilitate their work
  • Ensure all audit requests are fully and timely completed
  • Ensure all internal audit findings related to your area of responsibility are remediated within the specified time frame
  • Oversee the execution of internal controls as it pertains to your area of responsibility

Compliance: Provide oversight as it relates to Country Operations for:

  • Grain taxes ??? Licensing
  • Unclaimed property
  • Other non-income tax related tax matters

CHS1: Support the Director of Accounting - Country Operations with the implementation of CHS1 including:

  • Central Finance
  • Assist in identifying FP&A and financial shared services (FSS) tasks currently being performed by Country Operations accounting staff
  • Assist in developing and implementing a plan to transition identified FP&A and FSS work from accounting to their respective areas
  • Look for and drive efficiencies as CHS1 work is performed
Minimum Qualifications (required)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10+ years of prior experience
  • 4+ years of supervisory experience
Additional Qualifications
  • CPA/CMA/MBA, Strongly preferred
  • Previous for a public accounting firm
  • Previous work for an SEC registrant
  • Ag industry experience
  • System experience in: SAP, AGRIS, BPC
