Are you looking to make an impact in an organization while using your actuarial acumen? Western National is in search of a Pricing Actuary (Mid or Senior Level) to join our growing team! The position will focus on developing, analyzing, and implementing innovative rating programs and product enhancements to achieve company profitability objectives. This role offers a candidate the opportunity to utilize their advanced actuarial knowledge and skillset within the actuarial group. The individual in this position will contribute to the overall success of our property-and-casualty business.

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in property-and-casualty insurance with a focus on product pricing. The candidate has either attained an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society certification (senior level) or partially attained an ACAS (mid-level).

This role offers the opportunity to work in our corporate office in Edina, Minnesota with flexibility to occasionally work from home depending on business needs.

The full hiring range for this role is: $76,000-$150,000 annually; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates outside of the range listed above are encouraged to apply and will be considered based upon their individual qualifications and/or may be considered for other positions.

Responsibilities:
Conducts comprehensive reviews and analysis of data to develop rates, rating plans and pricing including forecasting profitability levels and overall performance for all products in all states.
Applies actuarial tools to model complex or innovative product pricing scenarios.
Analyzes existing policy data to identify trends and relationships and reports results and recommendations to management.
Collaborates with Data Scientists to interpret model results and set rating variables based on these results.
Establishes a regular schedule of product rate reviews and recommends rate refinements as appropriate.
Researches and monitors competitor products and prices and recommends innovative pricing and product enhancements.
Directs or conducts the development, submission, and management of rate and rule filings.
Provides technical knowledge in rate and coverage analysis of new and existing lines of business.
Provides technical input for corporate projects.
Analyzes financial impact of new state regulations on pricing and profitability as appropriate.
Applies expert technical knowledge in rate and coverage analysis of assigned lines of business.
Recognizes problems or situations that are new or without clear precedent.
Develops improvements and innovations to enhance performance.
Reviews work of junior analysts for accuracy.
Mentors/trains new actuarial analysts.
Consistently act according to our customer experience standards, including responding quickly, maintaining a positive attitude, building rapport, demonstrating empathy, managing the customer's expectations, using the proper communication channel for the situation, and taking ownership to ensure the customer's issue is resolved.
Performs special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in actuarial science or related science or math field.
ACAS certification required for a senior level; minimum of 3 ACAS exams passed strongly preferred for a mid-level.
Previous property-and-casualty insurance experience with demonstrated knowledge of multiple lines of business is strongly preferred.
Prior experience using advanced actuarial principles and techniques in pricing.
Advanced skills with Microsoft Excel.
Familiarity with SQL queries.
Demonstrated ability to consistently communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.
Focus on ownership of projects to completion.
Ability to find solutions using a systematic, multi-step approach.
Work independently as well as an effective part of a team.
Proficient use of various core systems, office and computer equipment and software packages.
