GENERAL SUMMARY:

Supervise the spraying of all processing crops for weeds and insects. During the off-season, involvement with updating and keeping current all pesticide/fertilizer records, SDS booklet, Sustainable Ag Program. Overhaul and repair of machinery and vehicles used in field operations.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Focus on working safely and working to keep all those working around you safe.
Maintaining good grower and company relations.
Contracting acres with growers for processing crops.
Engage with the supervision of seed variety selection, seed germ updates and seed distribution.
Supervise the planting of crops as directed by the Agricultural Manager.
Scout fields daily during the growing season to determine weed populations and crop diseases.
Check insect traps daily to determine insect populations.
Determine how to treat and spray fields.
Direct contracted spraying services, used for processing crops for weeds, insects, and diseases.
Maintain an organized seed and chemical inventory, as well as an accurate record of the inventory.
Sample processing crops for maturity and defects as directed by the Agricultural Manager.
Assist in training new field department employees.
Be available to assist the harvest crew at the time of harvest.
Repair/overhaul farm shop equipment.
Must have and maintain a clean driving record
Maintain the work area in a clean and orderly manner.
Notify the Field Department immediately if any unsafe or potential hazards are found. Take prompt action to correct conditions if within capabilities.
May perform other duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Knowledge:

Preferable to have some experience in an Agricultural pest management program.
Must be licensed or capable of becoming licensed by the State of Wisconsin as a Custom Pesticide Applicator.
Must have strong interpersonal skills to ensure good grower relations.
Should have specific knowledge of the pests which may affect processing crops, and should be familiar with the detection and control methods for such pests.
Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows programs, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
