POSITION SCOPE AND PURPOSE: Engineering internship focused on developing skillsets in New Product Development, Sustaining, Processes, and Automation. In this internship each selected candidate will be provided the opportunity to demonstrate and implement real world solutions as it pertains to medical device manufacturing and engineering. Introduced to ways to implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specification and quality standards. Introduced to the process of managing projects from concept through manufacturing launch for new or revised projects.

This internship will start in May 2023 and last approximately 12 weeks. At the end of this 12-week internship candidates who demonstrate exceptional performance and/or potential as it pertains to New Product Development, Sustaining, Processes, and Automation, have the opportunity to be selected for full-time employment upon completion of their degree.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
Strong team player.
Computer proficiency.
Tour ready appearance all hours, every day.
Ability to read, write and communicate in English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Ability to work for extended periods sitting and looking at computer while completing repetitive motions to include substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; reviewing detailed information; viewing a computer terminal; and expansive reading.

EQUIPMENT USED: Computer, printer, telephone/cell phone, copier, calculator, automation equipment, and fax machine.

CONTACTS: Customers, all SMC employees.

SUPERVISION OF PEOPLE: This position is not responsible for the supervision of employees.
