Position Summary:

Collaborates with the hospice medical director in providing world-class hospice medical care to patients in accordance with federal regulations and the strategic direction set by the board of directors. Some travel required within service area.

Essential Functions:

Partners with the medical director in providing medical expertise for:

· Standards of medical care for hospice patients

· Eligibility and ineligibility of referred patients

· Disease management and pain and symptom management of hospice patients

· Direct medical care to hospice patients

· Physician-to-physician relationships and leadership

· Clinical and public education regarding hospice care

· Guidance to hospice NP or nurse as they provide direct patient care

Qualifications:

· Experience in care of terminally ill patients

· Demonstrated ability to promote teamwork and collaboration

· Administrative health care experience desirable

· Board certified FP or IM desirable

· Hospice and Palliative Medicine Board or Geriatric certification desirable

Licenses, Registrations Required:

· Current driver’s license and auto insurance

· M.D or D.O. licensure in Minnesota and North Dakota

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The employee is frequently asked to drive to HRRV office locations as well as facilities and patients homes.
