The Senior HR & Training Manager is responsible for demonstrating positive, inspired, credible and effective leadership and support for all Store Management and Team Members in home and assigned stores.

The role of the Senior HR & Training Manager is to plan and execute all human resources activities by implementing processes and routines, training and development, and ensuring compliance with local, state and federal regulations. The Senior HR & Training Manager will also do this while maintaining and fostering a positive organizational culture with innovative and creative Team Member engagement solutions.

The Senior HR & Training is expected to be a thought leader who will challenge the status quo, identify opportunities, and provide solutions while partnering with store and regional leadership to achieve the desired results.

  1. Oversee and lead the Store HR Coordinators for their assigned stores.
  2. Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and orientation processes to ensure adequate staffing levels in all areas for their assigned stores.
  3. Facilitate training sessions with Store Leadership and Team Members by creating an effective and engaging learner experience.
  4. Ensure the time and attendance process for their assigned stores is being recorded accurately and Team Members are scheduled properly and paid correctly.
  5. In partnership with Store Support Center HR, oversee the Leave of Absence process for their assigned stores.
  6. Ensure that all Store Human Resources Coordinators understand and manage all administrative processes related to store employment including workflow, User Access Requests, terminations, new hire processing, store employment files, employment verifications, background screenings, etc.
  7. Provide guidance and oversight for the Store Management Team including the Store Human Resources Coordinator in partnership with Store Support Center Team Members with regard to risk management and safety including the Workers Compensation and Accommodation process.
  8. Provide guidance to Store Human Resources Coordinator and Store Management regarding store level legal compliance related issues.
  9. Oversee performance management and succession planning, in partnership with the Management Team. This includes ensuring all assigned stores are utilizing Fleet Farm's corrective action process correctly and consistently.
  10. Work with the General Manager to ensure that Company initiatives, values, and culture are modeled and trained within the store. Lead the store's ACT Team and engagement activities to promote a positive work environment.
  11. Generate an active flow of quality candidates, utilizing various recruiting mechanisms, such as job fairs, social media, networking, referrals, and other traditional and non-traditional avenues.
  12. Screen, interview, and work with the Store Management Team to ensure open positions are filled in a timely fashion to meet store labor needs.
  13. Manage all administrative processes related to store employment including Team Member employment records, user access requests, schedule preparation, terminations, new hire processing, employment verifications, benefit administration, etc.
  14. Be a sounding board and objective party for the Store Management Team and the Store Human Resources Coordinator to leverage when making people and business decisions.
  15. Provide a safe and objective open door for all Team Members to discuss issues and concerns they may have.
  16. Provide the Senior HR Manager with regular updates on trends and issues to ensure the timely proactive resolutions.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Responsible for 4-6 Store HR Coordinators geographically distributed across their assigned area.
  • Will select and provide training, coaching and development for their indirect report team.

Education/Experience:

  • A degree in Human Resources Management or related field is a required qualification
  • 3-4 years of HR Generalist or related experience
  • Retail experience preferred
  • Recruiting experience preferred
  • Experience facilitating retail training preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred
  • PHR or SPHR Certification or be working towards certification preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills
  • Ability to work a flexible retail schedule including nights and some weekends
  • Strong written and verbal skills required
