Great Northern Equipment is excited to announce our 2023 Summer Internship Program. The program is designed to kick-start your career and provide real-world experience in your chosen profession. Interns will further develop their skills and knowledge by completing project-based work that addresses real business issues. The program also connects participants with management at various levels of the organization and provides an inside view of our environment and culture. The program structure includes an end-of-program project presentation by the intern to members of the management team.

Great Northern Equipment is currently searching for a National Sales Intern to join our thriving sales team. You will be assigned specific projects that will not only maximize your potential but add great value to our company!

Basic Function: The primary responsibility of this position is to support the sales and prospecting efforts of the company by driving online sales, contacting customers, and researching new markets/customers.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in creating and organizing national sales.
  • Performs selling techniques on inbound and/or outbound calls.
  • Document lead generation process, implement methods to improve.
  • Handles confidential information with the utmost judgment and discretion.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management.
  • Coordinates with other departments to collect/update customer information for the purpose of establishing and maintaining a customer account.
  • Other duties as assigned or apparent
  • Attends training as directed by GNE.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required

  • Ability and willingness to make outbound calls to customers and prospects.
  • Seeking post-secondary education.
  • Strong people skills with ability to relate to peoples' needs and concerns while still being able to accomplish the Company's goals.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Must exhibit strong decision making qualities.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Excel and Word.
  • Speak, write, and read fluent English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of Company personnel and others.

What we are seeking in an intern:

  • Pursuing a business, or related degree
  • Foundational experience with Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, as well as communication and collaboration software including Teams and Jira
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated
