Position Overview

Securian Financial is building a Data Management Center of Excellence in the Enterprise Data and Analytics (eDNA) department. eDNA's vision is to leverage data as an enterprise asset to enable customer-centricity and empower our businesses to drive strategic growth. This position will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing an enterprise learning and culture initiative (data literacy program) to achieve our eDNA vision and develop a data-driven culture within the organization. This position will collaborate with Learning and Development (L&D) on the development of learning materials and partner with the Office of the Chief Data and Analytics Officer (CDAO) to drive adoption through communication, stakeholder, and change management to roll out the learning materials. In addition, this position will use project management skills to align people, processes, and tools to drive implementation of data management capabilities. This requires a candidate with the ability to collaborate with internal teams and key stakeholders (such as data domain owners, data stewards, and data custodians) to drive and sponsor data management initiatives. A successful candidate will have a bias for action, ability to collaborate and influence within and across teams, passion for data, strong communications and presentation skills, and program implementation experience.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Design, implement, and promote an enterprise learning program (Data Literacy) in partnership with L&D and eDNA.

  • Partner with key stakeholders (e.g., Office of CDAO) on stakeholder engagement, communications planning, community development, and change management in order to roll out, drive adoption, and continuous improvement of program responsibilities.

  • Drive a data-driven culture through learning and develop programming, including but not limited to, curriculum design, course curation and development, competency and content mapping, developing learning paths, and translating complex data concepts into simple and approachable language to reach multiple audiences.

  • Manage program responsibilities in alignment with organizational goals in an agile project management style. Establish clear metrics, ROIs, and progress reports and ensure customer feedback loops are in place to develop, mature, and improve program outcomes.

  • Advance responsibilities through a collaborative, inclusive and team-orientated approach.

  • Facilitate learning sessions and workshops with key stakeholders across the organization at all levels to increase data proficiency and management.

  • Drive data management initiatives with key stakeholders (data domain owners, data stewards, and data custodians) such as leading data governance group meetings, sponsoring data management projects related to data domain build outs, and promote adoption of the data catalog and master data management solutions.

  • Support leader in the development and ongoing maturity of the data management center of excellence, data management program functions, data governance activities and other duties as assigned, including providing recommendations for improvement.



    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of learning and development and implementation experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, or education.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex data topics into approachable, clear language.

  • Excellent in person and virtual facilitation, presentation, and teaching skills.

  • Applied experience using data to design, solve, manage, facilitate, and deliver business solutions.

  • Experience implementing large scale programs or initiatives, flexing "pragmatic doer" and "empowering collaboration" skills to maximize impact and innovative solutions.

  • Ability to work across organizational boundaries, align diverse roles, backgrounds, functions, and partners across a company to reach shared program milestones.

  • Champion the value of data, analytics, and insights for personal and professional value.

  • Systems thinker and cross-functional leader with the ability to see the connectedness of ideas and initiatives.

  • Demonstrates curiosity, creativity, and lifelong learning, open and eager to learn new skills and abilities and train others as well.

  • Change management experience (including but not limited to evidence of culture and behavioral change, stakeholder management, learning and development, and communications experience to drive adoption).

  • Experience with digital learning tools and management systems, learning libraries and other learning platforms.

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles.

  • Strong program management experience, with excellent organization and time management skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of data literacy program development and implementation.

  • Knowledge of financial services and insurance industries.

    Physical job requirements:

  • Ability to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 8 hours per day

  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week

  • Ability to utilize telephone for up to 8 hours per day
