BASIC FUNCTION

At Shadow Plastics, the Maintenance Supervisor leads maintenance processes for all manufacturing facility equipment. This includes troubleshooting and repairing equipment, mechanical, electrical, extrusion machines, hydraulic systems; repairing all standard equipment, forklifts, general building etc. Ensuring preventative maintenance, trouble-shooting and repairs are completed in a systematic and timely-manner to help maintain production requirements. Also, assisting with new equipment set-up, building fixtures as necessary for manufacturing departments, and overall general maintenance. The supervisor will mentor, train and delegate maintenance tasks and projects to teammates.

All employees are asked to work in a manner in which quality of work and safety are top priorities. This is achieved by following established safety procedures, passing compliance training and following work instructions and safety guidelines while keeping work areas safe, clean and organized. Other job functions as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/MAJOR TASKS

  • Trouble shooting equipment and finding solution for maximum performance capabilities
  • Repairing machines and equipment in a safe yet timely manner to limit shut downs
  • Preventative maintenance of all shop equipment for supporting ongoing productivity expectations
  • Working on equipment and performing maintenance from various heights
  • Some travel for training and to help support other satellite facilities and processes

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • May collaborate with engineers, production personnel, programmers and other departments to resolve machining or assembly problems and needs
  • Perform other general shop duties as required
  • Other job functions as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Continuously walking and standing on concrete floors
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of less than 20 pounds
  • Occasionally lifting and carrying 25-50 pounds and on seldom occasions up to 100 pounds with carts and other lifting devices
  • Frequently pushing and pulling of carts with tools and equipment repair needs
  • Frequent handling and gripping of parts and hand tools
  • Frequent use of sensory perception - vision, hearing, space and forms
  • Frequent reading and troubleshooting
  • Frequent twisting from bench to machine
  • Frequently reaching above and below shoulder level
  • Work environment is both inside and outside with ongoing and frequent temperature fluctuations (summer/hot and winter/cold)
  • Work environment has constant manufacturing noise, machine tooling dust and machine vapor fumes
  • Climbing, crawling and comfortable working from varying heights
  • Frequent use of oils and chemicals for cleaning, etc.
  • Personal protective equipment for this position is constantly required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/PREREQUISITES

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three (3) or more years maintenance experience or equivalent maintenance
  • Experience with plastics or extrusion equipment preferred
  • Safety experience and understanding required
  • OSHA training desired

Skills and Abilities

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five (5) or more years machine shop maintenance experience or equivalent maintenance
  • One (1) or more years of experience with electro-mechanical equipment repairs
  • Two (2) or more experience mentoring, training and leading others with maintenance processes
  • Some experience with electrical codes and standards
  • Some experience with robotic equipment and laser cutting systems desired
  • Safety experience required
  • OSHA training desired

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong leadership abilities

  • Able to repair CNC and other shop equipment
  • Strong electrical skills
  • Visual basic programming experience desired
  • Experience working with various voltages (i.e. 110, 208, 220, 480)
  • PLC experience
  • Good fabrication and welding skills
  • Exceptional safety skills
  • Good blueprint reading skills
  • Good general math and trigonometry skills
  • Knowledge and experience with measuring, hand and power tools
  • Strong inspection and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong reading, interpretation and application skills
  • General understanding of computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good teamwork skills and ability to collaborate with others
  • Capable of setting up and accurately interpreting various inspection gauges.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
