What Will You Do?

You will develop specific designs for Battery Thermal Management systems (BTMS) and Electronics Cooling Packages (ECP) for Electric Vehicles (EV) and Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV) using current technology to meet customer requirements and Modine standards. You will be reporting to an Application Engineering Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design & Size Battery Thermal Management Systems (BTMS) and Electronics Cooling Packages (ECP) for assigned Electric vehicle customers.
  • Design cooling systems for Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV).
  • Ensure understanding of supplier capabilities for electric components like Compressors, Heaters, Coolant pumps, Electric Fans, Sensors, Valve
  • Provide technical assistance to the customers engineering personnel.
  • Coordinate the build and ensure the accuracy of prototypes.
  • Specify test requirements and analyze test results on assigning products to validate performance and durability of new and revised designs.
  • Ensure understanding by plant production and manufacturing personnel of design specifications.
  • Work with other departments and the plant to ensure new models are delivered on time and meet all customer requirements.
  • Work with Sales personnel with a focus on costing and pricing.
  • Monitor feedback from the field and initiate product improvement.
  • Travel infrequently to customer locations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field, is required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in engineering is required.
  • Experience with heat transfer and thermal management needs on Electric and Fuel Cell Electric vehicles.
  • Knowledge of structural design, manufacturing processes and computer methods are necessary.
  • Knowledge of high voltage and low voltage electrical components and controls.
  • Prior experience in the EV market and thermal management system design would be an added bonus.
