Summary:

As the Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing product designs in a cross-functional team environment. The Mechanical Design Engineer ensures the accuracy and quality of the models and drawings developed as a part of new product launches, product improvements, quality improvements, and maintenance of existing products. In this role, you will also follow computer-aided design (CAD) standards, provide support to other departments, including supply chain, manufacturing, sales, and customer service, and work directly with suppliers to ensure manufacturability and coordinate with outside resources guaranteeing the completion of out-sourced projects to company standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generate concepts, designs, and models for new components that comply with product specifications. Create documentation supporting product development.
  • Understands and implements elements of design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and design for operation (DFO) during the product design process.
  • Assist in creating support materials such as instruction and service manuals. Review drawings and layouts.
  • Generate and incorporate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs). Implement revised model elements to update component, sub-assembly, assembly, and kit drawings.
  • Create & cost initial & preliminary Bills of Materials for PD&D Projects.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering and 0-5 years of experience. Experience with SolidWorks is a plus.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Proficient in drafting electrical/mechanical components and assemblies is a plus.
  • Experience designing for various materials and processes, including die-cast aluminum, plastic injection molding, and stamping, is a plus.
