JDR seeks an accomplished, experienced Electrical Engineer with passion and motivation to contribute to our innovative design team. A strong candidate for this position has the ability to develop a full set of electrical plans, write specifications, and monitor a project through construction. Responsibilities include the design of lighting, lighting control, power, and low-voltage electrical systems. Primary tasks associated with this role include load calculations, system sizing, layouts, cost estimating, calculating/sizing electrical equipment, and facility field survey.


A Professional Engineering License, Registered Designer License, or the ability to become licensed is preferred but not required to apply.


Responsibilities

Responsible for designing lighting, power, and low voltage electrical systems, preparing technical specifications, and developing opinions of cost (estimates). Also participates in contract bidding/administration and observes project construction on site

Responsible for using technical skills in the independent evaluation, selection, adaptation, and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in the development of unique design solutions

Ability to resolve a variety of complex problems (i.e., Conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements)

Ability to research and understand applicable design codes and standards for a variety of project types

Knowledgeable in consulting and construction practices to include plan/specifications, design/build, and construction manager roles, and responsibilities

Serves as liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams.

Responsible for the design and progression of a project, including the coordination of the project with the City, State, and County officials and other outside agencies

Ability to work well with other disciplines such as Architectural, Structural, HVAC, and Plumbing


Qualifications l Education l Experience

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred but not required.

Candidate to be proficient in AutoCAD

Working knowledge and experience using Easy Power, Power Tools for Windows or SKM

Familiarity with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint

Ability to explain ideas clearly and effectively

Exposure or experience in Revit/BIM is a plus but not necessary

Able to proficiently use the tools or materials required to perform typical assigned duties

Eligibility for Wisconsin registration

Familiarity with the Department of Commerce Codes, International Building Codes, NFPA 70, NFPA E, NEC, and ASHRAE Standards
