The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for design and development of electrical system designs, power systems design, controls upgrades and retrofits of deployed systems, electrical engineering support of the mechanical design team, support robotic systems design and design and development of IOT components.



Principle Duties and Responsibilities


  • Work with Sales and Engineering to develop new products, product upgrades, and retrofits
  • Define scope of work and level of effort required for the development of new products, upgrades, and retrofits
  • Act as technical advisor to Sales team
  • Prepare engineering submittals, reports, design drawings, and Bills of Material (BOMs)
  • Design low and high voltage power systems up to 14.5KV
  • Design and implement power generation, power management, and power storage systems
  • Design, program, and commission industrial controls including MCC, PLC (Allen Bradley and Automation Direct), VFD, PID Control loops, safety circuits, and HMI's
  • Design and implement industrial networks including Modbus TCP/RTU, and Industrial Ethernet
  • Design and program engine governor controls and related systems
  • Support design, development and testing of new products. This could also include testing and/or acceptance at customer sites
  • Prepare interconnect schedules for integrated systems
  • Design and Develop IOT connectors and other related software for FM Onboard
  • Assist in design and development of FM Onboard robotics.



Qualifications and Educational Requirements


  • BS in electrical engineering with emphasis in controls and/or electrical power is required
  • 3+ years of experience as a practicing electrical/controls engineer
  • 1+ year experience programing Robotics preferred
  • 3+ years creating schematics in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks or similar program
  • 3+ years simulating with MATLAB, Simulink, and/or similar program required
  • 3+ years designing and commissioning industrial networks preferred
  • 3+ years programing PLC required, preferably Allen Bradley and Automation Direct
  • Experience writing software and scripts in the following languages preferred:
  • 3+ years Python 2 and 3
  • 3+ years C++
  • 1+ year JavaScript
  • Demonstrated capability in testing and troubleshooting energized electrical control wiring such as found in control and instrument transformers strongly preferred
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills required
  • Good working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Project required; experience with Oracle preferred
  • This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship. Acceptable proof of US Citizenship is a US Passport, US Birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate.
