Purpose of Position

Supervise the retail coffee and convenience store concept within Dining Services. Supervises assigned staff to fulfill the orderliness of the store. Sees that there are adequate supplies, labor scheduled to operate the retail location.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform Service to Customer Tasks involved in fulfilling the above duties/responsibilities
  • Provides service to customers and establishes excellent rapport with customers, both internal and external
  • Final preparation and service of products ensuring standard recipes and portion sizes are followed
  • Ensures excellent presentation and service of food
  • Performs assigned Food Pro duties according to predetermined schedule
  • Follows all university and dining services policies and procedures
  • Establish and monitor staffing levels adequate to furnish customer service, yet be fiscally responsible
  • Train staff on proper customer service, portion control, recipes, opening and closing procedures
  • Monitor student schedules, hiring and discipline actions
  • Monitor student's trainings in Vector Training and insure they are completed timely
  • Supervise staff on daily functions • Maintain team/group leadership to ensure superior service to our customers
  • Mentor student leadership team on site, assisting department with their growth and development.
  • Annual student reviews as requested.
  • Manage the disciplinary process with student leadership to hold staff accountable to Dining Services standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Use thermometers in the process of achieving the proper temperatures for the various products, record temperatures, and check on products being held to insure safe temperatures, record temperatures for the coolers and freezer and advise supervisor if temperature requirements are not met
  • Use the proper procedures to clean and to sanitize the various work areas and the large and small equipment used in production
  • Keep self-clean, use proper hand washing techniques, wear clean uniform and hair restraint, avoid direct contact with food if at all possible and use gloves and utensils when possible
  • Use the proper procedures in the storage of food, cover, date and label food, chill food rapidly using an approved method
  • Use the proper sanitation/production procedures in the production of products in order to avoid contamination (cross contamination with cutting boards, knives, etc.)
Required Competencies
  • Requires the ability to handle cash and utilize POS systems
  • Requires strong customer service skills
  • Requires strong motivational, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Requires knowledge of equipment, materials and practices of the industry
  • Requires ability to move up to 40 lbs. and move/stand for 3 - 4 hours at a time
  • Ability to motivate and supervise others
  • Strong Customer service skills with emphasis on student customers
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One yearbeing a supervisor of employees
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.
