Job Summary:

Engineers in this role are responsible for the design, integration, design support, testing, and certification of interior furnishings and seat systems for general aviation aircraft.

  • None

Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Design detail parts, assemblies, and installations of interiors, seating, and monuments using PTC Creo. Apply reduced dimensions and GD&T to drawings as appropriate.
  • Perform peer review of the work of other engineers. Guide work of less experienced engineers.
  • Provide engineering technical expertise and lead small integrated teams to design and test aircraft interior products across all Cirrus models.
  • Support the development of design requirements, processes, project plans, and activities required to design and certify aircraft interiors and furnishings.
  • Author test plans, test reports, and other engineering reports to support product development, validation, and certification. Coordinate and conduct testing to show compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with interior suppliers.
  • Work both independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Apply pertinent sections of Federal Aviation Regulations Part 23. Familiarity with flammability, seat dynamic testing, and FAA certification desired.

Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or other relevant engineering discipline. 2-year degree in an engineering or technical discipline with relevant experience will be considered.
  • 6 or more "Senior" 10 or more years "Staff" progressive engineering experience required with a 4-year degree; 12 or more years progressive engineering experience required with a 2-year degree. Experience in aviation and/or automotive seats and interiors preferred.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft or automotive interior materials and manufacturing processes preferred. Proficiency with comfort and ergonomics desired.
  • Familiarity with Design to Cost, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, or Design for Maintainability desired.
  • Ability to translate aesthetic industrial design vision into cost-effective, producible interior products.
  • Working knowledge of CAD, PDM/PLM, and collaboration tools. Familiarity with PTC Creo, PTC Windchill PDM, and Atlassian JIRA tools preferred.
  • Surfacing native in Creo is preferred
  • Knowledge of "Class A" surfacing
  • Ability to communicate technical and program knowledge in a clear, understandable manner. Must have the ability to read, write and speak the English language.
