Position overview
The Director, New Market Development is responsible for leading new and existing areas of Supplier Programs within the New Market Development organization. This role is responsible for identifying and recommending new business opportunities, including new products and services. After identifying and recommending new opportunities, this role will determine the viability and feasibility of these services to Digi-Key suppliers, as well as the development of appropriate plans to ensure successful execution.
This role is both people and project-oriented which requires a demonstrated ability for strong innovation, consulting, relationship building and management skills. Will work with Digi-Key's global team as well as external partners (current and prospect) to nurture and grow new and expanded customer/supplier opportunities for Digi-Key.
This role is responsible for managing and deepening existing partner relationships as well as identifying opportunities for new recurring revenue opportunities with supplier partners within the electronic component industry. This role oversees the sales, operations, and supplier relationship management teams supporting supplier programs. These supplier programs include Samples, eCommerce, Logistics, and other services.
This is not exclusively an essential onsite role, however travel to Thief River Falls and Bloomington MN offices on a regular basis is required.
Strategic Direction and Leadership
- Define key success metrics and evaluate effectiveness of supplier programs. efforts to support business growth objectives, leverage data to drive business decisions.
- Execute business plans and lead the development of functional strategy.
- Lead, coach, and mentor the sales, operations, and supplier relationship management teams supporting supplier programs, including ecommerce.
- Foster and maintain an entrepreneurial growth culture across all teams and work functions.
- Understand overall company strategies, goals and objectives; develop and drive department strategy, goals & objectives to align for maximum impact. Effectively communicate with company leadership and throughout the assigned area of responsibility.
- Interact, present, and negotiate with external partner's executive level leadership.
- Ability to build and foster influential relationships at all levels across and outside of the organization.
New Market and Product Development
- Identify and recommend new business opportunities, including services.
- Develop a strong understanding of Digi-Key's platform, products and services to deliver competitive offerings.
- Drive platform improvements to improve integration capabilities with partners.
- Manage and deepen existing partner relationships and identify opportunities for new recurring revenue with partners.
- Collaborate with internal IT partners and external suppliers to co-develop a roadmap and drive products and features from concept to launch in a fast-paced environment.
- Partner with stakeholders and customers across the organization to inform the product vision, strategy, features, and prioritization.
- Define and execute go-to-market plans, working to ensure that product management, marketing, and sales have what they need to be successful.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or similar area of study or equivalent, relevant work experience.
- 8-10 years of management experience.
- 9+ years industry experience in sales, business development, and/or marketing.
- Demonstrated success in leadership management role within an interdepartmental and dynamic company (i.e. global, matrixed organization).
- Demonstrates fiscal responsibility with the ability to define and measure the cost effectiveness of the department
- Demonstrated success in developing strategy from the ground up, as well as successful execution of that strategy
- Strong representative of sense of accountability and ownership; ability to lead your business and clearly communicate the results back to the organization.
