A day in the life

The Provider Relations Partner is responsible for developing, maintaining and appropriately managing strong, positive relationships with assigned healthcare providers. This position facilitates, supports, and/or coordinates strategic initiatives with assigned providers to assure understanding of Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota’s (BCBSND) strategic directions and maintains close contact with senior leadership of providers to enhance mutual understanding and resolution of any conflicts or concerns.   

 

Your responsibilities will include
  • Develops and maintains a productive relationship with provider senior leadership, represents the Company to the provider, explains and promotes business initiatives and process/policy changes and meets with provider leadership to provide information and receive feedback regarding service issues.
  • Partners with a multi-disciplinary internal team of subject matter experts and external vendors to assure excellent operational service and support to assigned provider organizations.
  • Develops proactive and positive cross-functional working relationships with other internal divisions/departments to resolve health care organizations issues.
  • Represents the Company in a professional manner and engages with providers at various on-site healthcare focused events, conferences, etc. as necessary.
  • Sets up ongoing procedures to collect and review information needed to manage and monitor provider impact and activities. Identifies network access and deficiencies and develops recruitment and contracting strategies.
  • Prepares management and status reports that summarize the status and completion of ongoing contractual duties, management of the provider relationship, and contract negotiations for leadership.
  • Manages contract negotiations in a timely fashion to meet corporate deadlines.
  • Researches, analyzes and interprets key information on provider organizations to enhance negotiation effectiveness.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of complex payment methodologies, contract language standards, contract compliance issues, claims processing operations, medical management practices, and quality standards and clinical initiatives that impact provider performance.

 

What you need to succeed
  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Medical professional or related field.
  • 6 years of experience in provider relations, either in health insurance or in the provider community with demonstrated experience in comprehension, interpretation and application of healthcare provider agreements.
  • Talented in interpersonal communication skills in order to build and maintain relationships with our providers. It is at the heart of what this position will do!
  • Strong listening skills and ability to be attentive to the needs of the providers and the needs of the organization.
  • Be a team player willing to collaborate, problem solve and work well with others.
  • Understand healthcare and how Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota fits within it.

 

Equivalent combination of education, experience or training determined to be acceptable by Human Resources may be substituted, unless regulated by contract or program standards
