THIS POSITION IS LOCATED AT THE MENTOR CENTER!
Education: Bachelors' or Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work preferred or related fields are also considered.
Job Goal: Provide services related to student and family social, emotional, academic, and life functions and overall well-being. Establish positive, trusting, supporting relationships as a foundation to effectively serving students and their families. Provide resources and facilitate activities that promote social skills, peer and adult connection, and individual capacity in a variety of social-emotional competencies.
Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
Establish and maintain trusting, collaborative, professional relationships with all students. Provide direct practice lessons and services that foster social and emotional competency. Mobilize school and community resources to maximize student academic and behavior success; Identify and connect community services to staff, students, and families. Provide social-emotional support and counseling related services to individuals, groups, or families. Demonstrate cultural competency and trauma informed practices in daily interactions. Collaborate with mentor center staff and school campuses to enhance student learning. Contribute to a safe and healthy work and learning culture at the mentor center. Provide specialized services such as crisis intervention and consultation as needs arise. Maintain student confidentiality and the highest ethical standards Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. Ability to manage emotions and provide emotional support during stressful circumstances.
Terms of Employment: Nine (9) months, academic school year.
Hours of Employment: 2:00-8:00pm Monday - Thursday
Evaluation: Written evaluation by the Mentor Center Coordinator.
Open until filled.
