Job Details
This position exists to perform skilled utilities installations; the extension, replacement, alteration, maintenance, and repair of existing electrical, HVAC and security systems; maintaining and repairing buildings and equipment; and performing building and grounds maintenance.
Examples of work:
(A position may not include all the work examples given, nor does the list include all that may be assigned.)
- To install, test, repair, replace and maintain electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment so that all systems operate safely and efficiently.
- To maintain, operate and repair heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems to ensure the safety and comfort of occupants and the efficiency of the systems.
- To install, test, repair, replace, maintain and operate the security system so that building and site security is maintained.
- To perform routine maintenance and repair to buildings and equipment to ensure the safety of occupants and extend the usefulness of the facilities. Tasks include:
- Make minor repairs and adjustments to plumbing, steam and water lines, furniture, shelves, doors and windows.
- Replace or repair locks.
- Build or repair plaster walls, concrete surfaces and brick surfaces.
- Perform custodial duties.
- Painting exterior and interior building surfaces.
- Perform structural repairs to buildings.
- Perform plumbing repairs and installations that do not require a licensed plumber to perform.
- Remove snow and ice from and maintain sidewalks, parking areas, yards and grounds so that a safe, professional, neat appearance is maintained.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current license as a Class A Journey Electrician.
- Knowledge and skills in the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in trades work sufficient to assist skilled trades staff in the completion of assigned projects.
- Ability to perform semi-skilled trades work sufficient to complete minor trades plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and/or electrical systems and equipment.
- Ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments to machinery and equipment including the general maintenance and minor repairs of buildings.
- Skills in using hand and power tools and other trades equipment.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions sufficient to interpret and carry out assignments in a safe and efficient manner.
- Valid Class D driver's license. Applicants must be able to obtain their Class B CDL with no air brake restriction within 6 months of hire.
