Preferred Qualifications

- Organize and maintain the medical student research laboratory.
- Assist medical student researchers in the planning of experimental protocols that use the laboratory facilities.
- Train medical student researchers in the proper use and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
- Assist students in evaluating results as it relates to the proper interpretation of results from laboratory technology.
- Assure compliance with all regulatory and lab safety protocols.
- Assist with the instruction and mentoring of students in the Clinical Laboratory Science graduate program. Provide laboratory research opportunities for undergraduate researchers interested in biomedical research.
- Assist in the instruction of K-12 teachers in the use and employment of laboratory-based experiences for their students.
- Perform original research that provides thesis topics for graduate student Ph.D. and M.S. research projects.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Prepare and submit research, teaching, and service grant applications.
- Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences.
- Seven years of experience in mentoring the research of undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows.
- Track record of successful performance in original research as noted by peer-reviewed publications.
- Experience in flow cytometry and cell sorting, qPCR, viral transfection, xenotransplantation, confocal microscopy, protein expression, and integration of bioinformatic data into laboratory protocols.
- Successful completion of criminal history records check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to write and edit peer reviewed manuscripts.
- Demonstrated ability to write and submit extramural and intramural grant applications.
- Demonstrated performance of original research.
