Position: Senior Accountant
Major Responsibilities:
Reviews invoices for proper coding and funding types
Approves vendor ACH/Wire transfers
Reviews and approves daily deposit journal entries
Process bi-weekly payroll
Reconciles bi-weekly disbursement of payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws
Audits W-4s, payroll balance sheets, YTD earnings, etc.
Communicate actively with Operations, HR and Billing to review cross-departmental impacts and reconciles data sharing
Partners with HR on payroll issues
Reconciles monthly bank accounts
Reconciles grant expenses and revenues
Prepares grant reports for review by the Director of Finance
Prepares monthly Financials for review by the Director of Finance
Prepares dashboard for monthly board meeting
Makes bi-weekly 403b contributions
Makes deposits for union dues
Work with the annual auditors in gathering source documents, doing walk-throughs and answering follow up questions
Assist with HRSA, UDS and other required reporting
Serves as a backup to the Staff Accountant.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Knowledge of GAAP
in-depth knowledge and experience of payroll calculation and processing
knowledge of applicable local, state and federal rules and laws
solid financial acumen
proficiency in relevant payroll and accounting software
1-3 years in accounting at the senior level
Proficient at MS Office (especially Excel)
Must be a team player
Must be highly organized.
