Summary
  • The On-Call Proposal Writer interprets customer requirements and works with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to write clear, concise, and compliant responses. Proposal writing assignments may include proposal content such as management plans, past performance and corporate experience sections, staffing plans, resumes and biographies, and oral presentations. As an on-call employee you will work part-time variable hours.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Write clear, persuasive, and articulate proposal sections; translate technical and other ideas into easily understandable text; rewrite and review proposal sections and related proposal documents for a wide range of bids.
  • Develop new content and use existing content in fresh ways to respond to requirements, ensuring win themes, key messages, discriminators, benefits, and proof points are clearly and effectively communicated.
  • Elicit information from SMEs (or lead discussions) to develop proposal material; work effectively with all levels of management and technical staff to develop winning proposals; and collaborate with graphic designers to ensure images support or correctly reflect narrative.
  • Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; coordinate requirements with contributors; and contribute proposal status information to review meetings.
  • May design and develop proposal-support documentation, including templates, outlines, and section writing guidance.
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree; specialization in communications, English, journalism, or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of technical or proposal writing experience
Additional Professional Skills:
  • Strong proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and with SharePoint and MS Teams
  • Strong research and organizational skills
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment with attention to detail and maintaining a positive attitude (even when under pressure)
  • Able to work quickly, accurately, and collaboratively to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Highly responsive and able to identify and address high-priority tasks
  • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information
  • Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as teaming partners
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to support in editing tasks on proposals
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Familiarity with industry standards, including APA, Chicago, and AMA

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is :

$68,325.00 - $116,152.00
