Servicing the Met Council since 1993. As a Fleet Maintenance Technician with First Transit, you will help maintain and repair vehicles to ensure customer safety. You will be working on 30-40 foot transit buses, 60 foot articulated buses, body on chassis type buses and other vehicles that make up the assigned fleet. Other major job duties include

About the Position:

  • Complete preventative maintenance inspections (PM's).
  • Complete Repairs on defects found during a PM
  • Diagnose and perform all phases of vehicle and equipment repairs including but not limited to brakes, suspensions, engines, and transmissions.
  • Complete repairs on defects noted during daily vehicle inspections-pre-trip inspections (DVI's)
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately.

  • $78,000 annually dependent on qualifications

  • $.25/hr for each ASE certification obtained
  • Additional hour rate increases for each ASE certification you possess or obtain!

  • Addition $1000 annual bonus for being ASE quad master certified
  • $500 annual tool allowance
  • Company-paid ASE testing and training materials.
  • Annual allowances for boots and prescription safety glasses
  • Ongoing company training on state-of-the-art online system utilizing Cummins OEM, Ford OEM and internal training modules.
  • Work with paperless shop technology on tablets!

Qualifications for Fleet Maintenance Technician

  • Valid driver's license required.
  • At least 1 year of automotive or diesel maintenance & repair employment experience or a combination of technical school education & experience.
  • Mechanic's toolset
  • ASE certifications preferred. Must be willing to participate in company ASE certification program (company training, testing, and bonuses provided!)
  • Subject to DOT drug testing. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including marijuana, for any reason.
