We seek a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Geddes lab in the Department of Microbiological Sciences at North Dakota State University. The researcher will work to understand principles of the rhizobium-legume symbiosis and broader plant-microbe interactions with an aim to translating discoveries to engineering root nodule symbiosis in cereal crops. Research objectives will involve the application of a wide range of cutting-edge molecular biology and bacterial genetics techniques including advanced molecular cloning, synthetic genomics and bioinformatics.

The researcher will join a large, dynamic group and be involved in mentoring several graduate students in experimental design and manuscript preparation. There will also be opportunities to develop independent lines of research.

The search will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Review of applications will begin July 1, 2023, with an anticipated start data as soon as possible. Initial funding is available for two years.

Work Schedule:

Full Time, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Advertised Salary:

$50,000-$55,000

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in Microbiology, Plant Sciences, Plant Pathology, Biology, Biochemistry or related life sciences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in plant-microbe interactions

Experience with molecular cloning and bacterial genetics

Experience with next-generation sequencing
