ESC has an exciting role for a Desktop Support Technician for a long-term contract engagement. While starting as a contractor, the role will open doors for potential long-term employment to secure exceptional compensation and benefits. The Desktop Support Technician will provide technical support and service for PC's, laptops, printers, and software within our client's information technology environment. The incumbent will assist the Network Technologies group in developing, implementing, and maintaining network infrastructure components and participate in equipment roll-outs and refreshes.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responds to Help Desk inquiries concerning system operations and diagnoses system hardware, software, and end user problems.
  • Diagnoses complex problems and implements solutions to ensure service levels are consistently met.
  • Provides expertise in restoring service and delivering solutions to meet end user requirements.
  • Provides analysis of user needs; configures and installs new and/or replacement hardware and software as needed.
  • Installs, upgrades, services and maintains PCs, laptops and printers.
  • Provides user support for network-attached and wireless devices by installing, configuring, and troubleshooting PCs, laptops, printers and other related peripheral devices to provide reliable and effective service.
  • Repairs hardware as appropriate.
  • Installs system and driver software updates; security patches; and registry changes as directed.
  • Identifies and helps to resolve network and wireless-related issues.
  • Assists with the evaluation of new hardware, software and network strategies by participating in lab testing as required.
  • Recommends effective problem solutions and tests; and communicates workaround options.
  • Maintains and promotes network security standards.
  • Utilizes Antivirus software and Malware tools to identify and resolve virus and network security attacks.

Required Skills:

  • Associate's in IT, Networking or related field/experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Windows XP and Windows 7 Operating Systems
  • Experience with troubleshooting workstations
  • Experience performing PC BIOS changes
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory
  • Internet Explorer 8, 9, 10 and 11 Web browser configuration experience
  • Desktop imaging and cloning experience
  • Experience installing Microsoft service packs and patches
  • Ability to work well in cross-functional groups
  • Ability to lift 25lbs
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
