Job Summary The Lease Operator is responsible for the overall daily operation and maintenance for oil and gas wells. The Operator IV demonstrates expert-level lease operating skills by working independently to diagnose and resolve production related issues; assisting other lease operators to resolve problems; displaying the ability to pump any route in the field; overseeing and training other operators; and collaborating with foremen and engineers. Performs all of the standard and technical aspects of the work group. Serves as a resource within the functional area. Typically acts as a lead, coordinating the work of others. Advanced knowledge of technical/specialized tasks and responsibilities. Relies on experience and exercises independent judgment to determine best approach to achieve desired outcomes; course of action is often determined by interpreting procedures and policies and coordinating action plans. Works under limited supervision Duties and Responsibilities Maintain compliance with company HSE policies and demonstrate the ability to respond quickly and confidently to safety and environmental events. Requires the operation of Company vehicles. Operator must drive safely to and from wells and well sites, maintain a clean driving record and adhere to Company policies. Possess the right and obligation to stop work if unsafe conditions exist. Measure and record oil production. Ensure accuracy of run tickets Conduct production tests and perform routine repairs. Communicate corrective maintenance needs if unable to complete. Perform operational checks of assigned wells, equipment, and facilities. Identify and report changes in individual well performance. Treat oil to meet pipeline specifications. Coordinate oil sales and water disposal Must have advanced knowledge of operation of POC's, plunger lift, rod lift wells, ESP's, and flowing wells. General lease site upkeep and maintenance (fences, signs, weeds, trash, etc.) Develop and maintain positive relationships with government officials, landowners, and third-party contractors. Must be able to operate multiwell/CTB facilities. Diagnose and resolve production related issues, consulting with Production Foreman as needed. Supervise and train new or less experienced Lease Operators Assist Production Foreman with monitoring and minimizing LOE costs. Act as backup for the Production Foreman as needed. Capable of analyzing and solving mechanical problems. Required Qualifications High School Diploma (or GED) Valid Driver's License May require the ability to pass a respiratory fit test. An acceptable pre-employment background and drug test 6+ years of Lease Operator experience Preferred Qualifications Working understanding and knowledge of gas fired compression and gas lift systems. Housing within 50 miles of the assigned area of operation. Physical Requirements Ability to stoop, stand, walk, pull, carry instruments, and climb stairs and ladders for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. Ability to work overhead for extended periods of time. Ability to perform fine manipulations with hands and fingers. Capable of driving distances of 150 miles or more per day during all types of weather conditions Ability to one arm carry up to 25lbs. without assistance. Regular bending, crouching, pulling, and kneeling to check equipment and gauges. Must be able to exert up to 50lbs. of force occasionally and up to 20lbs. frequently to move or manipulate objects. Ability to work significant amounts of time as required in completing job responsibilities. Working environment includes exposure to extremely loud noises in field, hazardous Chemicals, and Hydrocarbons that may be under extreme pressure for which appropriate safety measures are required. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
