Our client, a leader in the power sports industry, is seeking an experienced Materials Engineering Technician for an 8+ month contract to hire position in Roseau, MN. Standard day shift, Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm (with some flexibility on start and end times).


JOB SUMMARY:

The Materials Engineering Technician role is responsible for sample preparation, completion of laboratory materials testing, and writing reports as well as maintenance of equipment. The role is based out of the Roseau, MN facility and will support the Materials Engineering & Testing Department under the Central Operations Team. The role services the needs of all product platforms with an emphasis on Snow, ATV, and Powertrain.

This is a hands-on position where the successful applicant will be required to prioritize tasks and complete testing in an efficient and organized manner. Flexibility and the ability to multitask is key as this position will simultaneously work on multiple test requests for a wide variety of material types.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Metallurgical sample prep, mechanical testing, microscopy and digital imaging
  • Responsible for operating, maintaining, and calibrating equipment
  • Writing concise, accurate reports outlining data based conclusions
  • Maintain test schedule for multiple test resources and report out to project leads
  • Implement lean practices to optimize through-put in the lab
  • Maintain and operate an organized materials lab
  • Establish and write lab procedures associated with testing in order to ensure repeatability
  • Comply with all safety requirements


SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE

  • 2 year Technical Degree preferred or 2+ years of laboratory experience
  • Materials laboratory experience highly preferred
  • Experience in metallurgical sample preparation, use of microscopes, and hardness testing equipment preferred
  • Experience with nondestructive testing, quality assurance, and/or welding is a plus
  • Experience with use and proper handling of various chemicals and associated safety procedures
  • Strong aptitude and interest in learning new skills to support responsibilities of a growing role
  • Independence and self-motivation is essential for success at this position
  • Organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Applicants shall have strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Pay Rate- $24.65- $28.17/hour
