Buyer/Purchasing Specialist

This position is with a stable, growing, and well-respected manufacturer and engineering solutions provider of world class precision machined parts & assemblies. Due to their continued growth and diversified portfolio of customers/industries (off-highway, agriculture, lawn & garden, automotive) in which they serve, they are seeking to add a Buyer/Purchasing Specialist to their team. Position Overview:

The Buyer will be responsible for purchasing activities in a fast paced and time-sensitive environment. The Buyer's core responsibility is to procure direct materials (metals - stampings, machining, plastics) and as well indirect (MRO) goods & services that meet/exceed quality requirements at the lowest possible cost delivered on time to meet manufacturing production needs to fulfill customer demands.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize company's ERP (Infor Syteline) purchasing system to process purchase orders
  • Performance measurement tools are as follows: Past Due Purchase Order Report, Purchase Price Variance Report, Supplier Quality performance, and Delivery Performance Report
  • Ensure the accuracy of documents to meet the terms and conditions, payment terms, freight terms, and other key commercial terms
  • Cultivate supplier relationships and establish new relationships to support supply chain strategy and business needs
  • Collaborate with internal requestors to understand requirements, specifications, scope of work, budget, and delivery requirements
  • Communicate and resolve delivery and/or quality issues with supplier and internal requestor
  • Staying informed with real-time information on orders from RFQ to the use of the product
  • Recognize opportunities for continuous improvement and be an advocate and champion for change in support of Operational Excellence

REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRED QUALIFICTIONS:

  • Associate degree (AAS.) is required. Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Production/Operations Management preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years purchasing experience preferably with metals and/or raw materials in a manufacturing production environment
  • Experience in cost reduction initiatives through commodity reviews and supplier consolidation
  • Experience in stocking programs and inventory reduction efforts to improve turns while maintaining finished goods on time delivery
  • Effective verbal communication skills with a positive attitude
  • Proven initiative and accountability
  • Highly accurate computer data entry skills to include Word, Excel, and ERP software systems
  • Highly accurate number and visual perception
  • Effective planning and organization with maximum utilization of time management
  • Competent with deadlines and pressure with the ability to handle frequent interruptions
  • Ability to use judgment and independent thinking in the interpretation of data with indirect supervision
