Position Vacancy for 2023-2024 School Year.

Elementary Music Teacher positions available throughout the district. Location to be determined upon hire.

Education: Bachelor's Degree

Qualifications: Must have or be eligible for a North Dakota teaching license qualified to teach Music.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Meets assigned students at the times designated by the immediate supervisor.
  • Develops and maintains a classroom environment that reflects the teacher's unique talents and skills and, at the same time, meets the district's curriculum objectives within the limits of avail­able resources.
  • Prepares for assigned classes and provides re­quired documentation, preparation, and implemen­tation on request of the immediate supervisor.
  • Assists the administration in implementing poli­cies and/or rules governing student conduct, develops reasonable rules for behavior, and maintains order in a fair and just manner.
  • Provides an effective program of instruction based on the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. This should include, but are not limited to: a) Review of previously taught material, as needed; b) Presentation of new material; c) Use of a variety of teaching materials and techniques; d) Evaluation of student progress on a regular basis.
  • Correlates individual instructional objectives with the philosophy, goals, and objectives stated for the district.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Takes necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintains records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Seeks assistance for students with special needs.
  • Attends and participates in faculty, department, and district meetings.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for paraprofessional(s), student teacher(s), and/or volunteer(s).
  • Is accessible to students and parents for educa­tion related purposes outside the in-school workday, under reasonable terms.
  • Cooperates with other members of the staff and/or district personnel in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Establishes and maintains open lines of communi­cation with students and their parents concerning academic and behavioral progress.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relation­ships with other staff members.
  • Provides for professional growth through a contin­uous program of evaluation, reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning, complying with the Grand Forks Schools' professional growth program.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communi­cation.
  • Utilizes and integrates technology in an efficient and effective manner to enhance the instructional program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; occasionally walk and stand. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned duties; Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others.

    Evaluation: By the Principal at least twice each year in the first three years of service (December 15 & April 15), and at least once each year thereafter (April 15).

    External applicants are allowed to bring in up to 11 years of teaching experience.

    A teaching contract of 188 days.
