Our team members help create the culinary experience by preparing and serving quality food for NDSU students, faculty, staff and guests. In addition, as a Catering Coordinator, you will ensure we are providing the best dining experience for all of our catering customers, ensure food safety protocols are met in the food production and service areas, as well as providing excellent customer service. In this position, you are guaranteed 40 hours per week with 10 paid holidays, plus paid vacation and sick time. Description:

The Catering Coordinator position will assist with leadership for the recruitment, selection, training, supervision, and evaluation of staff for the NDSU Catering department and assist dining with all aspects of training and supervision of staff. They are responsible to assist the Catering Manager in the daily management of NDSU Catering. They will communicate expectations, goals, feedback through weekly meetings where the focus is on making things happen, on meeting objectives and solving problems that hinder progress. They will provide resources and tools for staff to do their jobs effectively, including new products and equipment as needed. The Catering Coordinator will build cooperation and commitment to objectives and common goals and do this with the highest regard to professionalism and work standards.

Work Schedule: Monday thru Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm. There will be times when you will work early mornings, nights and weekends depending on business needs.

Advertised Salary: $52,000 + DOE

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associates degree/certificate in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Dietetics, Food Service Management, Business or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a food service operation with an Associates Degree or 5 years experience
  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience in a food service operation
  • 1 year catering experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Working knowledge of food safety principles, food allergens, special dietary needs
  • Experience in food purchasing, controlling/maintaining food costs, executing inventories correctly
  • Experience with scheduling/controlling labor
  • Keen knowledge of trends, flavors, pricing and presentation
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business levels
  • Experience as a trainer with the ability to develop/implement dining and hospitality training programs
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Excellent interpersonal/oral/written communication skills with ability to work collaboratively with campus departments and staff
  • Detail-oriented with s trong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to quickly and effectively resolve issues that arise with both staff and customers in a constructive manner
  • Excellent leadership qualities to implement a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to convey professional behavior and attitude to a diverse staff and customer base
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service to a diverse campus community
  • Ability to work autonomously, independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to delegate
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure or in stresful situations in a professional manner.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Food Safety Certification
  • College or University food service experience
  • Experience with menu management software
