The Electrical Engineer has overall responsibility for the electrical needs of the assigned Paper Mill area (MF or MG). This individual is responsible for developing department reliability improvement plans and facilitating completion of maintenance/capital projects, identifying electrical & instrumentation reliability opportunity areas, implementing creative solutions, supporting process control activities, assisting hourly electricians with troubleshooting, and coordinating project management for the paper mill, as needed.

Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To,


  • Manage all aspects of the Electrical Reliability Program for the assigned Paper Mill area.
  • Support completion of electrical capital projects.
  • Assist in designing electrical systems/equipment to provide a safe workplace and to support a predictive-based maintenance environment.
  • Develop maintenance procedures for electrical systems/equipment to ensure maximum service life and utilization.
  • Advise paper mill operations personnel about systems/requirements available to meet needs and comply with safety codes. Monitor installation of designed equipment and systems to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety codes.
  • Respond to requests for system or equipment modifications or enhancements to achieve desired results in a safe and cost-effective manner.
  • Consult with maintenance personnel on existing systems, equipment, and practices and use possible alternatives to meet needs.
  • Participate in rotating weekend duty to provide operational support on weekends and holidays.
  • Provide backup support for other paper mill electrical engineers.
  • Review electrical designs and specifications being purchased or fabricated and electrical estimates for equipment and construction.
  • Provide requested services while meeting safety codes, specifications and budget parameters.
  • Ensure new and existing systems are compatible and will not cause electrical overload.
  • Support Maintenance Department efforts and help troubleshoot problems.
  • Provide leadership in developing hourly E&I crafts in the paper mill.

Requirements


  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required
  • Must follow Ahlstrom manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable to the position's areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills as well as teamwork skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Regular attendance at work is required. Ability to work additional hours during the week, on weekends, or outside of regular office hours may be required.
  • Experience in pulp and paper mill operations is a plus.
