As a Director of Compliance you will be collaborating across the organization and providing compliance oversight, guidance and support to the Optum Financial Services businesses. The ideal candidate will combine business strategy and knowledge of financial services regulatory requirements to assess regulatory and reputational risk, monitor compliance with new or amended laws, rules and regulations, design and implement controls and monitor for compliance risks. You will be expected to interact with business and compliance leadership, prepare, analyze and present data, identify risks, gaps and trends, and make recommendations, as well as establish best practices.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish a thorough understanding of the portfolio of Optum Financial Services businesses and collaborate with business partners to provide compliance operations support and ensure regulatory compliance for the business
  • Develop functional strategy and plans in support of organizational and business priorities; assist business with resolution of compliance matters and promote adherence to Optum compliance program
  • Identify contacts and stakeholders to drive compliance implementation and adoption within the business
  • Prepare and present compliance performance metrics for leadership including Compliance Committee and Board Reports
  • Provide leadership to and accountable for compliance performance and direction through multiple layers of management and senior level leaders
  • Demonstrate understanding of current regulatory environment and industry trends and other relevant guidance relevant to the Optum Financial Services businesses and ensure implementation and compliance with all regulatory requirements and contractual obligations
  • Communicate the potential impact of compliance issues and risks on our business, operations and consumers to applicable stakeholders, including both segment-specific and enterprise-wide implications
  • Participate in and support regulatory and client audits and examinations
  • Participate in annual compliance monitoring and risk assessment; analyze results, communicate risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Develop and document policies, standards, and procedures to implement sound governance and compliance programs, as well as functional implementation of such using appropriate combinations of systems, processes, and personnel
  • Consult with applicable business partners to identify effective approaches to support/enforce compliance within their business
  • Provide input on business training programs as needed to promote inclusion of appropriate compliance content (e.g., specialized compliance training)
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience working with auditors (internal and external) and regulators
  • Ability to analyze, manage and resolve complex issues with attention to detail
  • Excellent people-management, project management, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well both individually and in a team (in person and virtual) environment across all organizational levels where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability
  • Skills to identify, correct and resolve regulatory and risk management deficiencies
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret governmental regulations, regulatory guidance and manuals, and legal documents
  • Assertive self-starter, organized and able to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize tasks

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field or equivalent experience in Banking and/or Financial Services Compliance
  • 3+ years of experience working in Financial Services or a compliance role with comparable knowledge of financial services operations
  • Proven solid proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proven AML/BSA program knowledge
  • Ability and willingness to lead others (people manager)

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, or Washington Residents Only: The salary range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island or Washington residents is $118,000 to $226,800. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
