What you will do:

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) advance the life and social skills of people with disabilities. You will be providing 1:1 Direct Support to 1 person served daily with recreational activities, life enrichment skills, and community inclusion. Driving is an essential function of this role.

We are willing to train persons with a passion for helping others-this is an entry-level job. No degree or prior experience is required. In this role, you will,
  • Provide direct support for people with disabilities (This position is specifically hiring for a 1:1 Direct Support Role. Working with 1 individual daily)Other Centerbased Direct Support Roles present provide support at a 1:4 ratio.
  • Model appropriate behavior and interactions for your 1 person served.
  • Position may include using equipment to transfer adults to/from wheelchairs. The person served who you will be working with in a 1:1 support role, does not use any transfer equipment or wheelchairs.
  • Assist with personal care for your 1 person served.
  • Celebrate and inspire personal growth for the person you support as they work toward their goals.
  • Support your 1 person served in community activities; this includes transportation in the community using RIse vans.
  • Provide daily transportation support for your 1 person served riding Rise buses and vans.
Requirements: What you will need:
  • Willingness to learn and a passion for working with persons with disabilities
  • Flexible and work collaboratively with a team
  • Maintain a calm demeanor while de-escalating those occasional difficult situations
  • Create, and update documentation using an electronic system.
  • Basic computer, email, and Microsoft Office Suits skills, highly preferred.
  • Comply with and pass Department of Human Services (DHS) background check (Rule 11), which may include fingerprinting
  • Have a valid driver license
  • Pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds daily
  • Willingness to adhere to Rise's COVID 19 policy requirements

  • Hiring Bonus: $1,000 ( $500 after 3-month work anniversary and $500 after 6-month work anniversary)
  • Wage: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour, depending on qualifications
  • Daytime work hours (No evenings, weekends, or major holidays)
