INCLUSION SPECIALIST -Part-time (11 hrs/wk) location flexible in eastern ND

The part-time Inclusion Specialist will work 11 hours per week on a flexible schedule based on program need. The part-time Inclusion Specialist is responsible for providing education, guidance and consultation to child care providers and early childhood consultants on caring for children with special needs or behavior challenges. This position will build partnerships with agencies and programs with services that compliment and strengthen the delivery of services. The part-time Inclusion Specialist will develop, deliver and implement trainings, resources using new and current technologies, and provide technical assistance to early childhood service providers enhancing the capacity to serve children with special needs and behaviors. This position will track, collect, and report data to identify and measure service area progress and results. The part-time Inclusion Specialist is responsible for complying with state agency contract terms and conditions including completing paperwork as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning and Development: Responsible for assessing provider and consultant needs including conducting research and/or surveys to identify and prioritize; Plans for necessary resources and develops and delivers necessary training and consulting services based on needs; and organizes resource portfolio to enrich provider capacity to serve children with special needs.
Service Area Management: Manages service area responsibilities through building effective relationships with like agencies to compliment, support, and strengthen the delivery of child care services; Enhances service area delivery through collaboration with the ND Department of Human Services to deliver and support the grant program; Creates and utilizes various resource methodology required to deliver effective programming in alignment with caretaker needs; and advises and collaborates with other staff, providers, parents, caretakers, and other agencies as needed to improve service area delivery.
Service Area Operation Assessment: Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information; Collects and reports data measuring progress including identification and measurement of results based on community needs; and prepares a variety of written materials including program assessments, progress reports, improvement plans, care plans, etc. necessary for measuring success and progress in the service area and meeting mandated contract and/or grant requirements.
Administration: Administers program in accordance with state and local standards; Achieves objectives as outlined by supervisor or through the planning process; Responds to provider, caretaker, regulatory staff, and other agencies as needed; and seeks out and initiates additional opportunities to deliver effective education across the state of North Dakota.
Other: Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education or Child Development or related field with Early Childhood or Elementary Special Education or Occupational Therapy preferred
- Two Years of prior work related experience required
- Experience working with children with special needs, adult learning techniques and program development and/or consulting preferred
- Strong computer and technical skills required
- Driver’s License Required
- Occasional requirement to exert minor physical effort such as regularly lifting and bending. Movements may require pushing, pulling, and/or carrying up to 15 lbs. occasionally or periodically.
- Up to 20% travel locally and state wide eastern ND
- Normal concentration and attention to deal with normal deadlines. Work may be conducted in evening.
- Work potentially involves some risk to personal safety of injury, illness or health arising from the environment or the public/clients.
