The Quality Engineer evaluates engineering design, and the associated tooling and work processes to determine strategies and programs which provide acceptable product quality. The Quality Engineer will be responsible for establishing product acceptance criteria and the methods for measuring performance to the established criteria. The Quality Engineer must have knowledge of a variety of both manufacturing and inspection techniques and have a data driven approach when problem solving. The Quality Engineer will provide engineering support to the inspection team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops measurement methods and documents inspection plans to evaluate whether associated tooling and work processes achieve engineering design intent.
  • Develops and documents product quality acceptance standards
  • Conducts root cause analysis and implements corrective action to improve product quality
  • Supports others and provides instruction in continuous process improvements, including overall quality management system development.
  • Evaluates suppliers for ability to meet product quality and quality management system requirements through product and system audits.
  • Communicate company and quality assurance objectives and goals to suppliers.
  • Documents standard operating procedures for relevant quality management system functions


Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, and two years of quality engineering, industrial engineering or manufacturing engineering experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with component and fixture design is preferred

Job Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should:

Have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Internet software; Manufacturing software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Be knowledgeable in the use of various problem-solving and quality engineering methodologies such as process mapping, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, statistical techniques such as Analysis of Variance, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility, and Process Capability studies

Be able to coordinate between diverse group of individuals including engineering, supply chain, purchasing, operators/technicians, and management

Be able to clearly communicate problem statements, root cause analysis and corrective action solutions to stakeholders

Be able to read blueprints and knowledge of GD&T

Have knowledge of inspection equipment such as height gauges, CMMs, portable CMMs, laser trackers, etc
