General Purpose of Job:
Assist the Plant Manager to direct & manage daily plant operations as it relates to quality. Inspects materials & products for conformance to specifications
Essential duties & responsibilities:
Provide leadership & direction for lab technicians & material handlers
Test incoming raw materials. Use raw material test results to develop the most efficient blends for pipe production
Manage the resin inventory by evaluating needs, make plans for storage & usage, & assist in vendor procurement.
Receive resins & make inventory adjustments within the ERP system (IQMS)
Select products for testing at specified stages in the production process & test for product specific criteria
Operates all lab equipment & follows industry specified test methods for product evaluation
Maintain calibration records for test equipment
Maintain all quality records & documentation in accordance with requirements. Generate excel spreadsheets for data collection & evaluation as necessary
Log accurate & reliable test data into the IQ-SPC module
Report quality issues to management in a timely fashion.
Provide accurate data & assist in the resolution of quality issues & determining the disposition of finished product lots
Be present at line startups during your shift to perform first article inspections. Perform routine daily QC line audits
Manage & operate the local quality system to maintain compliance with the NTPEP program. (Not applicable to all locations.)
Keep accurate inventories on DOT stockpiles & complete the necessary certifications & paperwork for pipe shipments to state jobs
Assist in interplant audits & special projects as assigned by the Corporate QA Manager
Train machine operators on in-process inspections, finished product quality requirements, & control plans.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED), required
3 to 5 years' experience in a quality control leadership roll, preferred
Proficient in Microsoft office applications, required
Background in plastic extrusion industry or experience in manufacturing plant
Experience with quality processes, inventory management & continuous improvement orientation
Demonstrated ability to lead people & get results through others
Ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
Must be strong team player & able to solve problems
Detail orientated.
Ability to follow documented procedures & standards
Ability to read & interpret documents such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, & procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports & correspondence
Effective communications skills, internally & externally
Ability to calculate figures & amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference & volume
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra & geometry
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, & draw valid conclusions
Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds 1/3 of the time
Close & distance vision are require
Ability to work in wet or humid conditions, near moving mechanical parts & in extreme heat up to 2/3 of the time
Ability to work in a loud noise environment
