Position Overview

The Paramedic Teaching Specialist manages the Paramedic Technician and EMT Paramedic programs; develops, organizes and implements continuing education courses and specialized training to fulfill customer needs; and supervises assigned faculty and staff. The Paramedic teaching Specialist reports to the Associate Dean, EMS/Program Director.

1. Bachelors degree required. Masters degree preferred.
2. Wisconsin Certified Instructor II or ability to obtain WI Instructor II or equivalent.
3. Current NREMT Paramedic Certification.
4. Wisconsin Paramedic license or ability to acquire Wisconsin licensure within 6 months.
5. American Heart Association BLS/ACLS/PALS Instructor certification required within 6 months.
6. PEPP or EPC, GEMS, PHTLS or ITLS, AMLS Instructor certification preferred.
7. Ability to obtain drivers license and insurance coverage in accordance with College policy.

Job Description

  • Instruct program classes/courses and coordinate clinical experiences as assigned.
  • Manage assigned organizational unit. Monitor budget; ensure college policies, procedures and guidelines are followed.
  • Schedule, market and facilitate a full schedule of in-service and specialty classes.
  • Plan, organize and follow up support for courses/classes. Schedule classrooms, equipment, and materials.
  • Develop class schedules, secure clinical sites and develop training for clinical preceptors.
  • Ensure maintenance and inventory of equipment, facilities and materials used in program area.
  • Recruit, hire, schedule and supervise adjunct faculty. Evaluate performance and recommend and develop professional development activities.
  • Manage payroll process for adjunct faculty and contracted instructors who provide training in continuing education courses.
  • Develop and maintain positive relations with the internal and external community partners, including clinical sites and area municipalities.
  • Create and maintain an inclusive environment for students and staff of diverse cultural, social or educational backgrounds.
  • Actively recruit potential students.
  • Develop and distribute reports of unit activities as requested.
  • Utilize advisory committees and develop course policies in accordance with state/district/CAAHEP guidelines.
  • Represent WITC at state and local meetings as requested.
  • Establish positive working relationships with internal and external constituent groups, agencies, governmental units, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
